It was 1988 when I bought my 57 Nomad. After 10 years of working on my Nomad it was starting to look like a car again. In 1995 or 1996 the local car club dissolved, so no car show.
The first car club I remember in Washington was the Corn Country Cruisers, headed by Bob Minick. After that the Fantasy Cruisers were the club in town, til about 1995 or 1996.
In 1998 I asked different car people to do a car show, but nobody wanted to. So that was when I started doing the Central Park Motor Expo. After several years of donating the money to the local animal shelter I gave the show to them for a annual fund raiser, I still promote it for them.
In 2005 I decided it was time for another club in Washington. I sent letters out to all of the gear heads I could think of from the area. At the first meeting we voted for Corn Country Cruisers. I was voted in as the first president.
I was asked by Brian Reese to help him getting a car show started in Richmond at the AMVETS. That show is still going.
I was then asked by Bob Blum to help with a show in Wellman. It would be a fund raiser for the Wellman Ball Association. It is also still going.
Ricks List was started by my own need of car events list. After missing numerous events I made a list of car events I wanted to go to for sure and some that I might go to. A few weeks after I had my list some friends saw it and wanted me to make copies for them. It has grown to where in 2014 I printed and distributed over 1400 copies, not counting the ones that were printed off the internet and copies of my originals. In 2015 I will print and distribute 1800-2000 hard copies, 300 being mailed free to car people.
